Rug Maker designs and manufactures hand knotted silk and wool rugs for corporate businesses, designers and the public.
The company was established in 1989 in St Albans, Hertfordshire by Julian Blair and Richard Mathias.
As styles and customer requirements changed so did the company and ‘Rug Maker’ was created to offer a bespoke service not readily available. Rug Maker has officially been granted a licence by Royal Mail to manufacture an exclusive Stamp Rug Collection, which fully captures the iconic design of Machin’s Royal Mail Stamps. Rug Maker works with The British Library, architects and interior designers for prestigious projects and collections.

Raising general awareness
Rug Maker are a supporter of 'GoodWeave' a global non-profit organisation working to end exploitative child labour in the handmade carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children. The 'Goodweave' label offers the best assurance that no child labour was used to make a carpet or rug.
