Inspired by flatweave Gelims discovered in Northern Iran Ptolemy was inspired to approach Rug Maker to help source dyers and weavers who were able to achieve an elegant and mesmerising blending of colours. Visually soft and feathery yet contained within strong graphic, almost Rothko-esq colourfields, this collection of rugs is a beautiful example of Ptolemy’s ‘chromatic minimalism’ celebrating an ancient technique which until recently had been forgotten. Created with Ptolemy’s unique signature sense of colour these are truly original design classics of the future. Hovering between fine artworks and designed functional pieces they evoke a sense of timeless craftsmanship.
